About Us
Larry J. Acoff, owner of THE LA FFOCA Dispensary, is living proof that perseverance, fortitude and resilience are the signposts to success that guided him in past successes as a businessperson. Whether as one of the largest federal 8(a) paving contractors in Western New York or as the owner of State Wide Transporters, LLC, a busy Medicaid transportation company, he has developed management and organizational skills that he has now applied to the establishment of one of the first service-connected disable veteran (SCDV) Cannabis Retail Cannabis licenses issued by the state of New York.
Prior to starting his business career, he served 15 years in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. His service included a tour of duty in Lebanon and presence in Beirut at the time of the of the suicide bombing of the United States Embassy in 1983. This was the deadliest attack on a U.S. diplomatic mission up to that time.
At the conclusion of his military service in 1988 he started LA Transportation and Paving, Inc. and secured business designations granting Small Business Administration certified 8 (a) and SBA Hub Zone participation. He added New York State Minority Business Enterprise, Disadvantaged Business status, and achieved recognition as the Niagara County Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
In 2017, in recognition of a growing need for Non-Emergency Medical Transportation services in Western New York, Mr. Acoff established State Wide Transporters LLC, a 100% service- connected Disabled Veteran Owned Business. This business continues to provide safe and efficient transportation to and from medical appointments for eligible clients.
Meanwhile when New York State legalized Cannabis for recreational use Mr. Acoff decided to seek a Retail Cannabis license from the NY State Cannabis Control Board. He acquired a vacant building on 18th Street in Niagara Falls and completely renovated the structure into a code compliant 3000 sq. ft retail floor and office space with an addition 5000 ft of storage, work area and future development space.
The LA FFOCA dispensary is committed to providing a buyer experience with a knowledgeable and dedicated staff, strictly adhering to New York State guidelines - including the seed to sale product safety and quality control protocol - and offering a welcoming atmosphere with a focus on customer satisfaction and selling products sourced from trusted, licensed suppliers to guarantee consistency.
